چکیده

In this work, we investigate the dynamics of ion motion in “doubly-polymerized” ionic liquids (DPILs) which both charged species an liquid are covalently linked to same polymer chains. Broadband dielectric spectroscopy is used characterize these materials over a broad frequency and temperature range, their behavior compared that conventional “singly-polymerized” (SPILs) only one attached Polymerization DPIL decreases bulk conductivity by four orders magnitude relative SPILs. The timescales for local rearrangement similarly found be approximately slower DPILs than SPILs, also have lower static constant. These results suggest copolymerization monomers affects on scales, with pairs serving form strong physical crosslinks between This study provides quantitative insight into energetics drive phenomenon “ion locking” currently under investigation new classes organic electronics.

Ion transport and softening in a polymerized ionic liquid.

Polymerized ionic liquids (PolyILs) are promising materials for various solid state electronic applications such as dye-sensitized solar cells, lithium batteries, actuators, field-effect transistors, light emitting electrochemical cells, and electrochromic devices. However, fundamental understanding of interconnection between ionic transport and mechanical properties in PolyILs is far from comp...

ATRP of Ionic Liquid Monomers and CO2 Absorption of the Polymerized Ionic Liquids

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been found to be a major contributor to air pollution in many chemical and industrial processes. Recently, a new class of solvents–ionic liquids, which are chemically stable and non-volatile liquid organic salts at temperatures less than 100 C, have attracted widespread interest due to its negligible volatility, nonflammability and high ionic conductivity....

Interactions and dynamics in ionic liquids.

Precise dielectric spectra have been determined at 25 degrees C over the exceptionally broad frequency range of 0.1 <or= nu/GHz <or= 3000 for the imidazolium-based room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) [bmim][BF4], [bmim][PF6], [bmim][DCA], and [hmim][BF4]. The spectra are dominated by a low-frequency process at approximately 1 GHz with a broad relaxation time distribution of the Cole-Davidson...

Importance of Ion Packing on the Dynamics of Ionic Liquids during Micropore Charging.

Molecular simulations of the diffusion of EMIM(+) and TFSI(-) ions in slit-shaped micropores under conditions similar to those during charging show that in pores that accommodate only a single layer of ions, ions diffuse increasingly faster as the pore becomes charged (with diffusion coefficients even reaching ∼5 × 10(-9) m(2)/s), unless the pore becomes very highly charged. In pores wide enoug...
